EDGED IN BLACK! SERIES TWO

There is a particular silence that follows a letter being opened. A PAUSE THAT is ENTIRELY YOURS TO ENJOY...

“EDGED IN BLACK!” began as a series of letters sent to anonymous recipients across the UK. Each envelope contained a questioN- sealed, deliberate, and slightly theatrical.

RESPONSES WERE FACTUAL, FICTIONAL, CONFESSIONAL AND EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN. The project packaged the lost art of penmanship and letter writing, TO CAPTURE STORIES THAT MIGHT OTHERWISE GO UNHEARD. THERE WAS ONLY ONE RULE: OUR LETTERS MUST BE HAND WRITTEN AND SENT IN THE POST.

“WHO IS THE GHOST IN YOUR STORY?”

A ghost is not limited to the dead. It might be a person, a version of yourself, a moment that refuses resolution, or a relationship that continues to echo long after its ending. It might also be something you invent entirely, A PIECE OF CREATIVE WRITING OR POETRY, A VICTORIAN INSPIRED TALE.

Participants are invited to respond however they wish., The letter may be DIRECT OR DISGUISED, ADDRESSED TO SOMEONE OR simply left as a record of something that MAY NOT otherwise be said.

Each response will be documented within the EDGED IN BLACK! ONLINE diary., WITH FULL ANONYMITY. Handwriting WILL be included- forming a collective archive of private narratives. WITH PERMISSION, THESE MAY BE EXHIBITED TOGETHER IN FUTURE.

If you feel drawn to take part, you will be sent a handwritten prompt and a return envelope. There is no cost to participate IF BASED IN THE UK AND no correct way to answer.- Only the act of answering itself.!
